About Us

Welcome to Christ Presbyterian Church!

Christ Presbyterian Church in partnership with the Holy Spirit seeks to provide an environment where people can experience God. Christ Church began worshiping together in 1998. Through inspiring worship and a variety of opportunities for learning and service for people of all ages, Christ Church is a place –

  • where you’ll not get lost in a crowd,
  • where everyone knows your name,
  • where you can find rest in a weary world, and
  • where you can grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ.

What Do We Believe

As a part of the Reformed and Presbyterian family of churches, Cumberland Presbyterians believe in the sovereignty of God and the authority of Scripture as essential to our faith. We believe that God’s grace is available as a free gift to all who will receive it, and that God’s grace leads us to repent of our sin and claim the new life God offers. The Bible is the guide for all we believe and practice. We celebrate two Sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion. We offer Communion on the first Sunday of every month and on special occasions.

Who Are Cumberland Presbyterians?

The Cumberland Presbyterian Church grew out of a desire to proclaim the Good News on the American frontier in the early nineteenth century. Reformed in doctrine and evangelical in practice, the Cumberland Presbyterian Church strives for a middle-ground position between the extremes of predestination and total freedom of the will.

Cumberland Presbyterians are ecumenical, relating to and cooperating with Christians of various denominations in many kinds of ministry. We believe that we are one part of the universal family of Christians.

With a denominational center in Memphis, Tennessee, the Cumberland Presbyterian Church consists of approximately 700 churches with roughly 80,000 members. The denomination is very mission-minded with mission work in not only the US, but in places such as Colombia, South America, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Uganda, Zambia and ten other countries.

Our Pastoral Leadership

The Reverend Cardelia Howell – Diamond began her pastorate with Christ Church in May of 2013. She has previously served other congregations as co-pastor, associate pastor, youth pastor, and children’s minister in Tennessee and Texas. She and her husband Steve have three children Zanna, Sara and Wyatt. Cardelia received her BS in Family Studies with an emphasis on Substance Abuse Counseling from Texas Tech University in 2001. She earned her Master’s of Divinity from Memphis Theological Seminary in 2005 and was ordained in September 2006.

In addition to the Rev. Cardelia Howell – Diamond, Christ Church is led by a church session, which is comprised of 5 elected members, serving a 3-year term.  These leaders provide representation and pastoral support to the congregation. Each elder gives direction and leadership to various ministry teams in the church:

  • Building & Property
  • Christian Disciple/Worship & Music
  • Service & Outreach
  • Fellowship & Member Care
  • Stewardship & Finance
